This past year TCLF made great strides on its publication projects. TCLF book project collaborations and foundation and corporate sponsorship will insure that the Foundation will realize a book each year for the next three years. These new titles are as follows:
Preserving Modern Landscape Architecture II:
Making Postwar Landscapes Visible
Working with cooperating project partners, editors and contributors TCLF collaborated on the completion of the book manuscript. During this year all fourteen essays were edited and all photographs and their permissions were secured. The publication includes essays by Lawrence Halprin, Richard Longstreth, Laurie Olin, Ken Smith and Marc Treib. Broadening the message to an international audience, the publication also includes papers that chronicle project work in Canada , the United Kingdom and Portugal.
TCLF is grateful for the assistance from The Graham Foundation and Jones and Jones, Architects and Landscape Architects that have assisted in making this publication possible. We expect that the publication will be available in the fall of 2004. Learn more...
If Only We Knew: Landscape Preservation in Context
Working with our project partners and editor, Mary V. Hughes, the book manuscript was readied for peer review and comment. National experts reviewed the book favorably and their comments were provided to the project's editors. TCLF expects that the final, revised manuscript will be submitted to the University Press of Virginia in the spring 2004 with the book available to the public in the spring of 2005. TCLF is now working with contributing authors and archives to meet this deadline.
Pioneers of American Landscape Design
Thanks to the success of the first volume of Pioneers of American Landscape Design (June 2000, Mc Graw Hill Companies), TCLF is again working with the National Park Service's Historic Landscape Initiative on an all-new second volume. To date, over 130 pioneer entries are now underway, with over one hundred cooperating contributors and institutions.TCLF prepared a number of grant applications over this past year to assist with publication costs. We anticipate a publication late in 2005.
