Artist Statement: I took this image at the Cable Car Power House in San Francisco in 1970. The image focuses upon two parallel sets of wheels that pull the cables through the streets of San Francisco. The slow shutter speed of the motionless camera smoothes the imperfections of the surfaces of the wheels. The near set of these giant wheels frame the amorphic second set of wheels.
