Michael Van Valkenburgh
Bio: Michael Van Valkenburgh heads the firm of Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates, Inc., which he founded in 1982. He is also the Charles Eliot Professor of Landscape Architecture at Harvard, where he has taught for 25 years. Mr. Van Valkenburgh has won numerous design awards from ASLA and many other organizations. Michael lives in New York City and spends part of each summer on Martha’s Vineyard.
Artist statement: This is a drawing of driftwood found on the beach in Martha's Vineyard. In the early and mid-1990s, I drew almost exclusively with charcoal.
