Lyle Gomes

Lyle Gomes has been a photographer and educator for over twenty-five years. In 2005, his study of idealized human-made landscapes was published by the University of Virginia Press as Imagining Eden: Connecting Landscapes. This long-term project was supported by both a Fulbright Scholar Award (Britain) and by the Rockefeller Foundation residency in Bellagio, Italy. His work can be found in numerous museums, including: San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; Bibliothèque Nationale de Paris; San Jose Museum of Art; Stanford Museum; and Museum of Photographic Arts, San Diego. He continues to reside in the San Francisco Bay Area where he heads the Photography program at College of San Mateo.

Artist’s Statement
"This photograph is part of a long-term study of San Francisco city parks that include: Presidio of San Francisco, Golden Gate Park, and Lincoln Park. Golden Gate Heights Park is small neighborhood park on high ground between Forest Hill and the Sunset district."
