Artist's Statement
"This original pencil sketch depicts the landscape design for a private residence. The terraced landscape, reminiscent of a cubist collage, references the home owner’s extensive modern art collection and aids the transition from the residence above to the low lying landscape below. The design maintains and enhances majestic existing pin trees giving an overall strong composition of verticals and horizontal planes. Activated by the interior living spaces, the social upper terrace is designed to host intimate dinners and formal galas. Held by a grand scale ramp, an infinity edge pool creates a horizon line for the upper terrace, as it wraps around one side of the house. Submerged in the ruffled canopy of the woods, the lower landscape is passive with sculpted lawns and a bound water garden."
