Pam Liu ASLA

Having grown up on three continents, Pam Liu mingled and observed different cultures from an early age. This unique opportunity has had a profound influence throughout her life. Professionally, after 25 years as a graphic designer, she decided to venture into the multi-dimensional world of landscape architecture and ecology. Since completing her MLA from the University of Virginia, she has collaborated with ecologists, geologists, engineers, architects, landscape architects, governmental officials as well as developers in exploring ways to build gently on the land.

Artist’s Statement
With any landscape, what you see is often not what it really is. The process of understand the land takes into consideration what is above, what is below, what was here, what will be here, and how the natural, cultural and ecological systems affect each other. Above all, it is dynamic and constantly changing. This is a photographic melding of my thoughts, impressions and the sense of movement of an area in the Shenandoah Valley at the northwestern part of Virginia.
