Mario Nievera, Principal of Mario Nievera Design Incorporated, provides landscape architecture and design services for residential, corporate, institutional, and commercial clients in the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean. Based in Palm Beach, Florida, and New York City, Nievera received his landscape architecture degree from Purdue University in 1987. In 1995, he returned to Purdue as a visiting professor of design. Prior to starting his own firm, Nievera worked as a principle in the Boston and Palm Beach offices of the landscape architecture firm Morgan Wheelock Incorporated. His work has been featured in numerous publications, such as Architectural Digest, W, Southern Accents, House & Garden, The New York Times, Departures, Town & Country, Quest, and Palm Beach Daily News. He divides his time between residences in Palm Beach, New York City, and East Hampton.

The actual fountain is constructed of carved granite and is part of a private garden at an historic Palm Beach residence.
