Terry Clements teaches Landscape Architecture in the College of Architecture and Urban Studies, School of Architecture and Design at Virginia Tech. After receiving a BLA from State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, she practiced primarily in New England and California. Upon returning to school to earn an MLA, Clements’ work began to focus on the relationship between site design, materials, and construction techniques that work with the land and respect the cultural landscape. For the last several years, she has led education abroad programs to Western Europe to study the built environment.
Artist Statement: Sketching while traveling gives permission to pause for a few moments or a few hours to see and study what has been created and how it appears at any particular moment. This sketch was done while exploring Versailles with design students in 2007.
