Tom Fox

Tom Fox is a Principal with SWA Group. He is SWA's head photographer and manages the imaging group within SWA which consists of six digital artists and photographers. He captures his firm's built projects with the intention of "representing the intent of the designer through the camera lens." His photography has been honored with notable awards in his field including the 1981 Merit of Excellence from the Brooks Institute of Photography; the 1984 ASLA Excellence in Landscape Architectural Photography Award; the 2001 ASLA Excellence in Communication and Marketing Award, Educational Program Publications, Announcements and Special Promotions and the 2003 ASLA Texas Chapter Award of Excellence in Communications, both for “Las Ventanas Plant Guide, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.”

Artist Statement: This photo represents one of a series of aerial photographs taken in California’s rich agricultural valleys. The view from above reveals an ordered and efficiently planned landscape, almost always as a mono-cultured plant environment, which contributes to the abstract nature of the patterned orchards and fields.
