Winkworth
A Georgian Revival home with drive and house siting designed by Cecil
Fraser and the Olmsted firm. Originally a 75-acre site, the extensive
grounds and gardens were designed by Bryant Fleming and described by William
Marquis of the Olmsted Brothers as the "best in Louisville."
The surviving 8-acre property retains the designed terraces, a pond and
water feature, brick entrance gates and stone retaining wall. Fleming,
who practiced with landscape architect Warren Manning from 1901until he
opened his own firm, worked extensively in residential landscape architecture
until the Great Depression.
