Now the plaza's neighbor, the Tampa Museum of Art, threatens to overwhelm the Kiley creation with new construction. Read more... |

Capitol Park, Washington, DC
In the southwest waterfront area of Washington, DC, Chloethiel Woodard Smith and Dan Kiley designed a green oasis of gardens and courtyards, townhouses and apartment buildings. Their inventive collaboration brought new forms and refreshing possibilities to the urban renewal projects of the 1950s and 60s. Currently, a developer is planning to destroy the largest open space of the original masterplan by infilling two large apartment buildings and covering all the remaining space with surface parking.
