The owner of an exceptional contemporary art collection desired a home that reflected not only their personal appreciation of art, but also a deep commitment to the role it plays in their life. Landscape architecture firm dwg. believes that art is integral to the human experience, which created a natural pairing between the owner and landscape architect to bring intimate spaces together into one harmonious design. The result of that shared understanding transformed this private garden into a world-class museum – with the potential to open as a public garden in the future.

Throughout the 56-acre site, the dwg. team choreographed a sequence of outdoor sculpture rooms that feature each artwork within its unique context. A priority was placed on reducing water use, capturing and cleaning on-site storm-water, and creating more diverse and productive habitat. Working responsibly with the land was a priority for the sustained future of the site as an eminent museum with the potential to educate visitors on the beauty of healthy landscape systems.
