Born in Denmark in 1860, Jens Jensen came to the United States as an immigrant in 1884. Jensen first worked for the Chicago West Parks District as a street-sweeper, but quickly rose to become a designer and superintendent of parks. This photograph shows Jensen in the park he considered his most successful design: Columbus Park.
