Noguchi Takes Over Midtown as High Museum Puts Piedmont Playground in Spotlight

Playscapes was commissioned by the High as a Bicentennial gift and installed in 1976 near Piedmont Park’s 12th Street entrance. Its climbable cubes, asymmetric swings and spiral slide made it a rare translation of modernist design into public play, The Cultural Landscape Foundation notes.
