John Howard, ASLA, is principal and creative director of Howard Design Studio, a landscape architecture firm in Atlanta, Georgia. He leads a team of landscape architects at his studio in designing master plans for residential estates, private clubs and institutional campuses with projects across the United States.  The firm has gained local and national recognition for completed projects including the Philip Trammell Schutze Award given by the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art for the restoration of Boxwood Estate in Atlanta, Georgia.

His firm’s work has been featured in the magazines Veranda, Town & Country, Luxe Interiors & Design, Millieu, Southern Accents, and Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles, as well as the books Private Gardens of Georgia, Tom Kundig Houses 2, The Big Book of Chic, Soiree Entertianing with Style, Dreamhomes Georgia, and Inspired Tradition: The Architecture of Norman D. Askins.

Mr. Howard is an active member of the American Society of Landscape Architects and the Design Leadership Council, is CLARB certified nationally, and keeps his professional registration active in his firm’s project locales across the United States.  He supports the work of The Cultural Landscape Foundation, The Royal Oak Foundation, The Human Rights Campaign, The Institute of Classical Architecture & Art, The Southern Garden History Society, The Georgia Trust, The American Horticultural Society and Trees Atlanta. He has lectured on topics related to landscape architecture and garden design, and has lead tours of completed projects for The Cultural Landscape Foundation, The Garden Conservancy and the Atlanta Botanical Garden.
