Raymond Jungles, FASLA, RLA, is the founder of the Miami-based landscape architecture firm Raymond Jungles, Inc. (RJI), recognized for excellence in the design and implementation of both public and private projects. He established his award-winning practice in 1982, incorporating it in 1985, and has since led the firm with a commitment to ecological stewardship, striving to preserve and protect existing ecosystems while evoking human interaction and enhancing quality of life.
Mr. Jungles graduated with honors from the University of Florida in 1981 with a degree in Landscape Architecture. During his studies, he encountered the work of Brazilian artist and landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx, whose book Tropical Gardens of Roberto Burle Marx shaped the foundation of his professional ethos. In 2006, he was elected a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), and in 2024 he received the ASLA Design Medal, the Society’s most prestigious honor. From 2018 to 2021, he also served as a Board Member of The Cultural Landscape Foundation (TCLF).
All of RJI’s projects are personally directed by Mr. Jungles from conceptual onset to final completion. His passion for design and broad base of knowledge guide each endeavor, while he mentors staff and actively promotes the profession of landscape architecture and the appreciation of natural environments and gardens. His work includes celebrated urban and civic spaces such as 1111 Lincoln Road in Miami Beach and the Brazilian Garden at Naples Botanical Garden, as well as private and resort gardens throughout Florida, the Caribbean, Latin America, and beyond.
Widely published, his gardens have been featured in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Vanity Fair, Architectural Digest, Ocean Drive Magazine, and Garden Design, among others. He is also the author of four monographs—Ten Landscapes, The Colors of Nature, The Cultivated Wild, and his most recent, Beyond Wild—which together showcase more than seventy completed gardens over the course of his career
